According to a 2021 study, there is a link between metabolic syndrome and sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL)<\/a>. In this post, we review what these two conditions are and how they\u2019re connected.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The term metabolic syndrome describes a cluster of risk factors related to cardiovascular disease, including:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Having these risk factors means you\u2019re at an increased risk of diabetes, heart disease and stroke, as well as sudden sensorineural hearing loss.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n SSNHL, sometimes referred to as sudden deafness, describes a rapid loss of hearing caused by a problem with the inner ear.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Some people with SSNHL wake up in the morning and are unable to hear<\/a>. Other people hear a \u201cpop\u201d sound when doing daily tasks like shopping at Hi-Way Grocery on 4th Avenue, and then their hearing fades.
